In reply to <a href="https://craresources.com/blog/identifying-fake-cra-resume-part-1/#comment-77">Susanna</a>.

Susanna, thank you so much for your comments. Good that you documented your concerns to the sponsor as I believe being vocal about what we are seeing in the industry is the best way to resolve this "Fake CRA" trend.

I agree this movement is costly - financially to the site and sponsor as well as costly regarding potentially negatively impacting patient safety. Thank you again.

It is a very good article! I wish I read it earlier - although unfortunately my resume has a lot items as suspicious as listed in the article. N years ago, I did work for 3 companies in a row, which neither went closed or brought out. At the time, close-out or buy out is never heard of to me because I did not know capitalism well at the time. It was real experience. To make a long story short, reading this article, helped me to understand certain "strange" things I encounter alone my career path. Once I thought it was discrimination or bias towards me and glad to know now, that it was my CV does not look right - there is a reason behind those uncomfortable things (I am an honest, qualified person and always do well at work). If I had read this article earlier, I would have been extremely careful in earlier years of my career in career moves. Thanks for sharing the insight!
By the way, there are people do "fake" to get into CRA position as I heard - then it shows almost immediately in their daily work.
I sincerely hope that people can keeping in mind that while there are fraudulent resumes do exist, there are also very rare incidences that behind a looking bad resume, the owner can still be true and honest.

I have had experience as a coordinator dealing with a CRA who in absolutely no way could've had any experience in clinical research. I documented my concerns to the sponsor; apparently I wasn't the only one. Fast forward a few months when the CRA was replaced because they were in fact, a fake CRA. As a CRC, this was such an infuriating experience because we were getting erroneous information and having to make changes dictated by this CRA and then we had to go back and undo everything. This trend is costly to the sponsor as well as the sites when a Fake CRA actually slips through.

In reply to <a href="https://craresources.com/blog/identifying-fake-cra-resume-part-1/#comment-74">Judy</a>.

Judy, thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. Later articles will go deeper into some of your points and provide Hiring Managers more tools to identify these Fake CRAs throughout the interview process.

I also agree that while our organization is extremely picky when representing CRAs to our clients (as a reminder, placing CRAs is all we do), we realize many recruiting agencies are *not* incented to dig deep because of the way the agencies are structured and the way recruiters are compensated. This is one of the reasons our firm has decided to take such a strong stand as we believe your organizations should be protected.

If I can assist you in any way, please let me know. If you would like a "heads up" when the next article is published (should be very soon), just let me know and I will shoot you an email.

I am so thankful to see this article!!! As a hiring manager, I have seen this trend grow bigger and bigger over the past four years. As well, I have been faced with the challenge of trying to terminate several 'fakers' who made it past unsuspecting interviewers. The really scary part is that once these people get into our industry, it's practically impossible to get them out. The recruiters have VERY LITTLE incentive to screen the fakers out since they get paid 'by the head'. My advice to all hiring managers in the industry: dig hard during the screening and interview process to keep the fakers out! Conduct Facetime or Skype interviews. Watch them carefully. Ask them situational and problem solving questions versus factual ones.

In reply to <a href="https://craresources.com/blog/identifying-fake-cra-resume-part-1/#comment-72">Brian T</a>.

Brian, based on the statistics we are seeing, this movement seems "organized" - which (to me) is more concerning than random individuals who just happen to want to break into the CRA role and decide to falsify their credentials.

Thank you this article... very eye opening. How does someone with a Master's degree in Project Management and several years of experience as a certified Project Manager but no experience in Clinical Research get into the industry?
