Does your hiring strategy address counterfeit degrees, Diploma Mills and the impact to our industry? Don’t assume that using a 3rd Party Employment Verification company will keep your organization protected.

Applicant Fraudulence is a growing trend and is largely going unchecked by most Hiring Managers today. We consistently see resumes which are partially or completely fraudulent, the existence of fake companies, and candidates using fake references…but an extremely alarming trend most Hiring Managers haven’t heard of is the use of fake degrees.

Identifying counterfeit degrees is more of a challenge than you realize. I address this topic at the ACRP 2018 Global Conference and would like to invite you to listen in as I would be willing to bet the problem your hiring organization is facing is much larger than you believe it is.

According to Wikipedia, there are over 400 operational Diploma Mills selling fake degrees with another 300+ websites offering counterfeit diplomas. The number of individuals “owning” a fake degree or diploma is hard to estimate; however, Allen Ezel and John Bear boldly state in “Degree Mills: The Billion-Dollar industry that has Sold Over a Million Fake Diplomas”, it is estimated that more than 50% of the individuals claiming to have earned a PhD actually have a fake degree.

So how do you protect yourself and your organization? The key is to ensure you have an appropriate hiring strategy in place which will quickly identify education fraudulence. Join me for this session to learn more about education fraudulence and obtain checklists and resources you can use to protect your organization.
